Government - Federated Identity Management

STATE AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SECURES ITS NETWORKS WITH PRODUCTS FROM AVATIER

Year after year, Avatier has been selected by state and federal governments as the leading GSA compliant provider of network security and administration solutions. From the Department of State to Fort Knox, Avatier's federated identity management solutions help governments prevent unauthorized access to their networks, enable real-time auditing and provide streamlined administration with enhanced security.

Avatier’s federated identity management products have secured major government entities and military sites all over the world for more than 6 years. These organizations, like the U.S. Department of State, NASA, and the Yucca Mountain nuclear storage project, have high security standards and long ago recognized the need for and value of Avatier solutions. Only Avatier has a complete, industry-proven, out-of-the-box solution software set that can be rapidly deployed to help ensure compliance with internal and external security standards while simultaneously generating proven productivity improvements.

SECURITY FIRST

Several governmental and military organizations like Fort Knox have discovered that their network is only as secure as their weakest user password. In this day and age, they endure constant attacks from many sources, and must take measures to protect the network beyond what native tools will provide. These organizations have turned to Avatier’s Password Bouncer to enforce stricter password policies.

Password Bouncer’s expanded password strength rule set and dictionary filtering of new password attempts/changes allow administrators to ensure that passwords are not easily hacked. These expanded rules and filters better prevent unauthorized users from breaking into the network with dictionary/brute force password attacks with the goal of accessing or damaging confidential information. This federated identity management program can be installed, configured, and begin protecting a network in 5 minutes.

SECURE DELEGATION, AUDITING, AND SCOPE OF MANAGEMENT

Government, and especially the military, have very set rules and regulations over “Who should be doing What to Whom” on a network and even how many “Who’s” are allowed. However, the Microsoft platform did not provide that granularity or flexibility of administration for many years, and it still has many glaring shortcomings compared to Avatier’s solution.

Trusted Enterprise Manager (TEM) allows specific role-based assignments for individuals and groups over specific military units and squadrons such that the scope of management within their TEM “view” of the network is limited solely to users, groups, and computers within their assignment. Moreover, the interface is so intuitive and straightforward as to what these “Trusted Managers” can change; zero formal training has been required of Avatier at any of the scores of military and Federal sites using TEM. By properly delegating network permissions with Avatier’s federated identity management, military organizations were able to meet stringent regulations, improve security, and ensure that an under-trained person did not have “too much” network access that could potentially cause accidental damage and loss.
