Antelope Valley Healthcare
Antelope Valley Hospital, in Lancaster, California
is a regional provider of healthcare for over 600,000 Southern Californians.
The hospital's 2000 network users are doctors, nurses, administrators
and other staff - each of whom depends on the network every day
to provide quality care and service to patients. Any software deployed
on the network must provide maximum fault tolerance. If a product
does not work properly, it can have a direct and even disastrous
effect on the staff's ability to care for patients. It is a policy
of the IT staff to abandon software at the first sign of failure.
The help desk at Antelope Valley Hospital is the front door to the
network for its entire end-user base. Help desk personnel are on
call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The goal of Antelope Valley's
IT team was to equip help desk personnel with the tools to handle
the majority of day-to-day user calls themselves, reducing the need
for second level support. They needed a solution that would allow
them to delegate specific network administration tasks to help desk
personnel, while maintaining network security by keeping down the
number of Domain Admins on the network. The product had to be easy
to install and use, while at the same time providing maximum fault
tolerance and 24 x 7 reliability. Antelope Valley Hospital chose
Avatier's Trusted Enterprise Manager.
"When I first downloaded TEM, I had it up on the network the very
same day," said Jim Toshack, senior computer systems technician
at Antelope Valley Hospital. "I was extremely impressed with the
ease of the install."
"Deploying TEM was a much better solution than training staff on
User Manager and Server Manager," continued Toshack. "The help desk
was using TEM the second day - without formal training - and we
didn't't need to give them domain admin privileges to do it."
"TEM has reduced the number of second level support calls by at
least 50%," said Toshack. "Avatier's approach was a dream come true,
TEM is the number-one piece of software used by our help desk now."
Antelope Valley Hospital depends on Avatier's Trusted Enterprise Manager
to keep their help desk - and their whole network - running smoothly.
TEM's ability to delegate network tasks securely and reliably helps
Jim Toshack and his team to help the hospital concentrate on its
real job - providing the best patient care possible.
